Part 5 of Last Days of the Third Era
LADY BENOCH UNWELCOME IN THE IMPERIAL CITY?
The Imperial City – Lady Allena Benoch, the former head of the Emperor’s personal Guard, was thwarted in her wish to attend the funeral of Emperor Uriel Septim VII and the Imperial Family that took place yesterday in the Imperial City. “Of course I wanted to attend the funeral,” said Lady Benoch in an exclusive interview for the Black Horse Currier. “What in the world could be more natural than that? And to your question, if there was a pressure against my attendance, I can answer in the affirmative. First I was told that I would be better off in her mountain sanctuary by Narina Carvain, the Countess of Bruma, and soon after, this was confirmed from the Imperial City. It doesn’t matter. I have every right to be here and I will visit the graves of the Emperor and his family on my own, as soon as I recover from the journey.”
VARRO: WE SHALL DO ANYTHING IT TAKES TO AVENGE THE EMPEROR AND HIS HEIRS!
Fort Virtue – General Larrius Varro stated today for a correspondent of The Black Horse Currier that the Imperial Legion is intent on enacting revenge upon those organizations and individuals that are found to be responsible for murdering the Imperial Family. General Varro refused to disclose any details concerning the investigation into the tragic events that led to the demise of the Emperor and the Imperial Family, and claims that “the decision on what information to release to the public, when and in what form, is entirely in the hands of the Elder Council and the Imperial Guard.” However, the General told our correspondent that more and more suspects are brought in each day for questioning, and that the Imperial Guard “has its hands full” with their tireless efforts to bring the assailants to justice.
A NEW WAVE OF BORDER DISPUTES POSSIBLE BETWEEN MORROWIND AND SKYRIM
The Imperial City – Sevyna Llaren, a professor at the Imperial Battlemage College and a distinguished military analyst, estimated that there is a possibility for the border disputes between Morrowind and Skyrim to escalate in the immediate future. “The reintegration of the Nordic communities into the social structures of south-west Morrowind is obviously a failing effort,” Llaren says, adding that “the mediation by the organs of the Imperial administration, a necessary preventive, is now in question because of the tragic death of the Emperor.”
LEYAWIIN: TWENTY-THREE PERSONS ARRESTED, SIXTEEN EXECUTED, AND 5 POUNDS OF MOON SUGAR CONFISCATED
Leyawiin – Through an exclusive interview with His Eminence, Marius Caro, the Count of Leyawiin, the Topal Star reports that the Leyawiin Guard has not been idle. Since the declaration of Martial Law, the Guard has questioned 34 people of Leyawiin County, of which 23 were arrested under the suspicion of practicing illegal magical rituals, worship of deities and spirits prohibited by the Temple of the One, trafficking illegally in ebony, glass, Dwemer artifacts, slaves, illegal opiates and magical substances. Sixteen persons were executed by the Guard while attempting to flee or resist arrest, and more than five pounds of moon sugar were confiscated and destroyed during the raids. The Count did not comment on the possibility that some of the detainees are actually connected to the crimes against the Imperial Family.
